In a phone conversation earlier today, Bristol Hospice RN Sheena Erice said that Cheryl passed away from natural causes on September 26, three days after Robillard posted about the visit. ALSFH Plans November Fundraiser at Controversial Pali Lanes in Kailua

ALSFH’s  next fundraiser is a bowl-athon in Kailua Pali Lanes bowling alley in early November. The 3-person Board is currently discussing details with the bowling alley management.  The ALSFH fundraiser, tentatively set for November 10, will give local residents a chance to play in the Pali Lanes in a community-led fundraiser before its demolition  in early 2019. Foodland’s Give Aloha Program Ends; ALSFH Thanks Donors

Foodland’s month-long Give Aloha 2018 Program has just ended.  The annual program usually begins and ends in September.  ALSFH joined the more than 300 other non-profits that have registered as recipients of this popular, local philanthropy of the Sullivan family.  The program promises to match each donor’s contribution up to $249. After all donations have been recorded, the Program, which pledges a total of $250,000 yearly, will give the individual non-profits all donations collected in its name.  The Program will…

ALSFH Visits Cheryl Kellett at Home

After an acute episode of pneumonia, Cheryl Kellett decided to leave the nursing home.  She wanted to spend the last days of her life at home in the care of a hospice team. Her family supported her decision. September 9, 2019, Kailua, HI.  Foodland and Western Union Foundation in Hawaii started its annual “Give Aloha” Program on September 1st to continue the legacy of founder, Maurice “Sully” Sullivan of giving back to the community.  Foodland gives more than $250,000 annually to non-profits that participate in the program. August 25, 2018, Kailua, Hawaii.   Board of Director members, Katherine O’Connor and Divina Telan Robillard are celebrating their birthdays this month. Katherine’s birthday is August 26 and Divina, the 29th.  To celebrate their birth month, both BOD members created fundraisers on Facebook.  Divina’s Facebook fundraiser goal of $1000 was surpassed within 48 hours.  Eighteen FB friends donated directly to the fundraiser which continues for one more week. Amateur Writers Convene for Book Project

A group of amateur writers started meeting with UH Professor Emeritus Virgie Chattergy to develop a book focusing on experiences living with ALS.  As of this writing, group membership consists of Ronaele Whittington, Justin Hendrix, Rita Melville Alarcon, Catherine Sophian, Alexa-Rae Telan, and Divina Telan Robillard. Forging Relationships with Hawaii Neuromuscular Alliance

July 26, Camp Erdman, North Shore, Oahu.  Hawaii Neuromuscular Alliance (HNA) picked up where MDA-Hawaii left off.  MDA-H did not arrange for its annual summer camp for kids with neuromuscular disorders this year.  A grassroots campaign led by Dr. Doug Miles, neurologist from Queen’s Medical Center, was able to organize one in time before the kids and volunteer counselors go back to school next month.  Five campers and eight volunteer counselors plus four adult staff enjoyed five days of organized…
